Cathy and her husband are into the arts. Cathy is a fine artist while her husband Ken is into carvings of wood, stone and bone. There are pictures of their work on the photos page.

Cathy moved up north on her own when she was 19. She lived in Owen Sound and went to Georgian College of Applied Arts for 4 years. The first year she met her husband who was in the same program and was the star of the class. They married the next year and continued their education together. In 1992 they moved back towards London, Ontario away from Ken's family who lived in and around Collingwood which is up north. Cathy had obtained her diploma from Georgian College and so they both entered Fanshawe College in London for a year of Studio study. Here they met Eric Atkinson there who was originally a known artist from England, where he was a teacher at Leeds College, and who had quite a reputation in Canada. In fact he practically built Fanshawe College. They became very good friends and Ken had an apprenticeship under him for 2 years after they finished thier courses at Fanshawe.
